The Greater Chicago Waste to Profit Network is a regional by-product synergy project of the US Business Council for Sustainable Development. The WtP Network identifies how wastes and under-valued resources produced by industrial, institutional, or municipal facilities can be used as feedstock for others.

These by-product synergies benefit participants by resulting in cost savings for participants, diverting waste from landfills, reducing energy use and CO2e emissions, and helping spur innovation while creating and retaining jobs.  Since 2006, the Waste to Profit Network has resulted in:

Diversion of over 182,000 tons of solid waste from area landfills

Elimination of approximately 127,000 metric tons of CO2e

$17m in estimated economic impact/business bottom line impact
